I had the crawfish roll for starters. That roll is now in my top 5 rolls that I like! We also did the hibachi grill. Of course the fried rice was great. The vegetables were pretty good, but I would have like a little more. The chef cooked my filet mignon to perfection!! Overall the experience was pretty awesome...little slow, but you expect that at the hibachi grill.

Service 1 Food 3 Cleanliness 4 Value 2 Stopped by while in Little Rock hoping for good Japanese cuisine. Say at a table vs hibachi grill. The first thing I noticed was the menu is very limited contrasted to other Japanese restaurants I have visited. The service was poor - drink empty for over 15 minutes. The food was average at best. I had the steak and chicken terraki combination which was listed at $24.

I placed a to-go order with this restaurant tonight after reviewing their menu on-line. The prices were high but I went ahead and order their combination dinner with three items for $21.95. Imagine my surprise when they rang me up and the meal was over $29. Their new price - is $4.50 more. The lady proceeded to instruct me that I needed to double check their prices when calling in an order. REALLY?? Their website is incorrect and the CUSTOMER needs to double check them for accuracy?? After I told them I would never return to their restaurant again - she finally charged me the prices on-line. The food was ok - but not for whatever they are charging. In all fairness I would not have ordered from them again because for that price I would expect the Teriyaki chicken and steak to have been of better quality and the portion to have been a bit larger. I really dislike establishments that are not playing honestly. The gal told me that the web-site is 6 years old. So in 6 years they cannot update their website? I am from out of town. I have been staying in the hospital at UAMS with my husband who has cancer. It is a struggle to feed him and keep his weight up. I use the internet every day to find a new place to eat. We don't have the luxury of our neighbors telling us how good something is or isn't. Playing funny with your prices isn't funny.

First, let me say my parents and I had a lovely dinner at Samurai. I do have some negatives, but I'll start with the positives. We arrived at 5:30 on a Friday and were seated immediately. Hostess and waitress were very friendly. We were the last 3 to be seated at a table with 4 others already there. Service was fast and friendly and the grill was fired up quickly. Among the three of us we had steak, chicken, shrimp, and scallops, fried rice, soup, and house (ginger) dressing on the salads. I ordered my steak medium rare, and the chef even commented that was his favorite. Unfortunately, the steak was very thin and the least cooked pieces were at best medium well. When I saw how thin the steak was when he put it on, I was a little surprised, compared to Shogun, which is my main point of comparison. Hard not to overcook it. It still had a great flavor tho! My mom really liked the ginger dressing on the salad...my dad and I both found it too sweet. Not nearly as good as Shogun's. We all really enjoyed the soup. The shrimp and scallops were good and cooked well. The chicken and veggies were really tasty. The fried rice seemed a little under seasoned tho. They served two sauces, one was called 'yum yum' and was my least favorite, although a couple at our table who had been there before asked for only that sauce, so it's just a matter of taste. Overall we thought this was a good experience. The staff was great. I would like to check out the other Japanese Steakhouses in the area, but for us Shogun wins over Samurai as far as quality of food.

Great sushi!! We always get the Smoky Mountain and playboy roll. Over the past few years the rolls have gotten smaller but they are the best sushi in town for the price.

Recently had a dinner with colleagues at the hibachi table. We ordered various rolls, the one with mango on top was surprisingly scrumptious! I had the surf and turf hibachi combo with filet mignon, lobster, and shrimp with fried rice added. The filet mignon was absolutely fantastic! Very tender and juicy, seasoned well and cooked perfectly medium rare, and delicious when eaten with the accompanying sauce ( yellow yummy sauce ). Some of the best steak I have ever had.

My wife and I wanted to eat sushi while our two kiddos watched the hibachi show. We left after they refused to sit us at the hibachi table since we were not all eating. Poor poor service especially since there was practically no one there.

Horrible service! The hibachi cook burned me on both of my arms with the hot oil from the grill. It has been over 2 weeks and I still have burn marks on my arms. The cook apologized and the waiter offered 5% off the total check, but the manager never came and apologized for the incident. I will NEVER go there again. The only reason I gave them a one star is because it would not let me post with zero.

This place is by far the prettiest hibachi place I've been to here in Little Rock. I went here for lunch and ordered the hibachi shrimp and salmon. Our waiter was nice and our chef was very friendly and conversed a lot with my friend and I. While he cooked, we enjoyed the soup and salad. The ginger dressing was really good, but really watery. I like the ginger dressing better at Sashimi. Anyways, the food was great. I love how our chef was very big on flavor. Most of the time when I go to hibachi's the food tastes a bit bland and I'd have to put more soy sauce, but he cooked it to the point where I didn't have to do that. Lunch time is really cheap too. My total was around $14 and for a soup, salad, full hibachi plate.. That's a good deal for me. The next time I come here I want to try the sushi :)

This place gets two stars because the decorations look new-ish. Otherwise, no reason to spend your time or money at Samurai. Went on a weekend evening around 8:45 and walked in to a nearly deserted restaurant - bad sign. We were immediately sat at the empty sushi bar, a straight-forward affair with a surly looking Asian guy stationed behind it. He grimaced at us, clearly in love with his job... I ordered a large Sapporo, which came in a can (thumbs down). We had some salmon sashimi, completely average. For our second order I tried to ask the sushi chef, un-bothered by a single additional customer, for an order of unagi sushi. He scolded me that anything I order I need to use the thin piece of paper and the golf pencil. He then promptly disappeared and didn't come back for ten or so minutes... Salmon sashimi - as indicated above, passable. Fried oysters - inexpensive but flavorless, overly bready and unsatisfying. Various generic rolls - generic and various. Fake "krab," cloying eel sauce, boring tasteless fish. Service was unfriendly. I got the sense that the employees were extremely unhappy there - maybe management are a-holes. Food was entirely 4/10 and slightly below average. Prices were uninspiring. If you need to find a place to impress your seven year-old daughter when it's your weekend, this is fine, otherwise, don't bother.

Inedible sushi and when I say this I mean INEDIBLE. It was stringy and fishy and bordering rotten. Texture was slimy. The fat in the salmon was oxidized, the tuna just tasted wrong. When I brought this up with the employees, they said that it was how sushi was supposed to taste. The cost of the meal was $70. To make things worse, I ended up in the hospital two days after I ate here. I've filed a complaint with the health inspector. Unless you have a death wish, i'd recommend avoiding this place at all costs.

This is one of my favorite hibachi restaurants in the central Arkansas area. I love watching the food being prepared right in front of me, and seeing all the tricks that the chef does. My usual order is shrimp and scallops, and I must say that occasionally the scallops aren't cooked quite right, but never anything bad enough to send back or complain about. I've also had some of their specialty sushi rolls and have always enjoyed them. My only suggestion is that you split your meal with someone unless you have a large appetite! I always leave stuffed if I try to eat my whole meal! The reason for only 4 stars and not 5, is that I really really hate smelling like a restaurant when I leave. My purse usually absorbs the odors from the grill and I will be smelling hibachi for daaaaaaaaays.

I went here with a few friends after church. Let me say from the get-go, I am not a fan of Sushi and I don't think I ever will be. I do not eat fish and under no circumstances will I eat raw food, even though I do know some sushi is cooked. I have a huge fear of raw food (I probably need a therapist don't ya think!). However, if I do get picked to be on Survivor one day, I think I could eat it for 1 million dollars. So why did I go here? Well I love how they cook, I love watching my food being cooked right in front of my eyes. To me, it makes cooking fun, when I have always felt it as a chore at times. It is an art and I love watching it! How some person can juggle an egg with a spatula and toss it around and then have it hit the spatula so perfectly to crack and open and not have shards of eggs shells around is amazing! And the fiery volcano....that is just so cool. I had the steak and shrimp combo for lunch. It was fantastic. I love the spices and sauce they have for their food. The prices were pretty good. I think I paid about 13 total for my meal (with drink). I love the layout of this place. They have the main section where the have the grills attached to the table and they also have a sushi bar, and also tables where you sit on cushions. A very enjoyable experience. I would recommend this place and will go back. Reason for 4 stars: We got our food in segments. Fried rice came first, followed by the shrimp, followed by the meat, and then followed by the vegetables. I was hoping I was to get some at the same time. I like to pick and choose my bites, but for a while I was only eating rice, or shrimp, or meat, I think you get my drift. Sorry folks, I can't write on the sushi. Some other yelper that loves it will have to come to this place and give a review.

Reviewing for December, 2009 dining experience. We went to Samurai for a late lunch, and although we checked yelp beforehand our experience was not four star as the rating claims. We began by having bento boxes, two with sushi and one with teriyaki chicken. The sushi was barely edible... barely more for the sake of not having to return it and risk having more bad sushi. The tuna sashimi was so stringy and tough as to render it unchewable. The edamame was not thoroughly cooked, and service was sub par. I can't think of a reason I would chose to dine at Samurai again.
